The Different Factions
An aristocratic race of mice with a reputation for cheese induced rampages.
Small in size and strength, the Squeakers had a long history of being pushed around. This all changed when it was discovered that snorting cheese sent them into a berserker rage that few could stand against. They won their freedom and built a high class aristocratic society for themselves, always keeping a good supply of cheese at the ready for when the other races need putting back into their place.
The Squeakers are genial with all races except for the Scalers. They hold a special animosity for those reptilians as it was they who first enslaved them.
Sociopathic killers with a flare for style.
The cats of the Purrdition mostly live their lives as thieves and assassins. Their feline grace and complete lack of empathy make them cold hearted killers, though their fondness for dramatics and finery separate them from common thugs.
The Purrdition will work with any race if the money is right. They look down on every race, though they have a special hatred for the gullible and dumb Woof-Hounds as they represent everything that the Purrdition see as weakness.
The Monochrome Menace:
Cuddly and cute in every way, even when they don’t want to be.
Take a giant race of powerful killers give them floofy fur and innocent faces, then you have the Monochrome Menace. They are bad tempered and want nothing more than to be feared but no matter how hard they try everything they do is just so darn cute. They even make dismembering their foes an endearing sight.
The Monochrome Menace hate everyone as a rule. Above all though they are driven by envy towards the Teddies. Those bears have all the intimidation that the Monochrome Menace desires.
Simple and sturdy country folk who are masters of alchemical brewing.
Rustic living is made better by the creation of potent ‘moo-shine’ and other dairy-based potions. The Moo-shiners enjoy simple lives of singing, drinking, and brawling, usually all at the same time. Their hearty constitution makes them hard to keep down.
The Moo-shiners trade with all of the races except for the Pork Belly Oinkers. For the hard working Shiners, the pigs do nothing but leech off of their labor without any intentions of ever returning the favor.
Grizzly warriors with no sense of personal space.
These fearsome looking brutes are actually very friendly by nature. Their communities are tight-knit and they often forget that other races aren’t as powerful as themselves. Bearhugs don’t have that name without reason, and to the Teddies it is a common greeting.
All of the races are cautious of the intimidating Teddies, but the Teddies love everyone. They especially love the Panda of the Monochrome Menace as they can hug them to their heart’s content without fear of crushing them.
The Slither Scalers:
A reptilian race shunned by the others for their strangeness.
A cold-blooded race covered in armored scales, the Slither-Scalers have little in common with the other races. Their ability to regenerate limbs and their incredibly long lives mean that Scaler veterans keep coming back no matter how hard they are beaten. Once they ruled the world but are now a smaller faction due to their inability to function without the sun.
Due to their strange biology and a former empire built on tyranny, all of the races hold a distrust for the Slither-Scalers. The Scalers themselves are ambivalent towards most, but see the Squeakers as the reason why their glorious empire crumbled.
The Woof Hounds:
An excitable and loyal race of various canines connected by their shared heritage.
Big or small, long haired or short, the canine collective of the Woof-Hounds are a diverse race tied by their wolven ancestry. They wear their emotions on their metaphorical sleeves and value loyalty and brotherhood above all else. They do have a terrible weakness for thrown sticks and tasty treats though.
The Woof-Hounds try to keep the peace between factions, seeing the good in everyone due to their optimistic view of the word, but even to them, the cats of the Purrdition lack redeeming features. Their individualistic nature places them as the ideological opposite to the Woof-Hounds.
The Pork Belly Oinkers:
Loud and blunt with an unending appetite and a scavenging nature.
The Pork Belly Oinkers are the picture of gluttony. The love to wallow in filth and eat all day, doing anything they can to avoid having to do any work. They sustain this lifestyle by raiding other races for food and alcohol, or by simply living off the land.
Everyone is fair game for the Oinkers to steal from and use. Their preferred target though are the Moo-shiners for their booze and produce. Most Oinkers deliberately try to stay close to Moo-shiner settlements for this reason.
